It’s no secret that filler appointments can feel intimidating and overwhelming, especially if you’ve never had filler before. The fear often stems from the unknown, so we decided to walk you through what a filler appointment and the first 48 hours following one look like, so you can be fully prepared and fearless for your appointment.
During the Appointment
If it’s your first time getting filler, you and your provider will sit down to discuss your expectations, aesthetic goals, budget, and any other concerns, then come up with a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Once you’ve agreed on the plan, the treatment area will be numbed with a cream or gel for at least 15 minutes. This numbing process helps reduce any pain or discomfort that might come with the filler injections, making the experience much more comfortable. For lip filler, a dental block is also an option.
After the area is sufficiently numbed, your provider will begin injecting the filler. Our providers take their time and move slowly, checking in with you periodically to ensure the filler is looking just the way you want. Once you’re happy with the results, your provider will likely provide an ice pack, and you’ll be free to go on your way. The appointment itself is easy-peasy!
After the Appointment
Your provider may recommend massaging the treated area periodically to help smooth out any lumps that might form from the filler. The ice pack you receive can be used to help reduce swelling and redness. We also recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure for the first 48 hours after your appointment to ensure the best possible results.
Some swelling, bruising, redness, and lumps or bumps are normal in the days following treatment. However, it’s important to monitor these closely. If you experience significant pain, discomfort, or are concerned about any bruising, swelling, or other symptoms, don’t hesitate to reach out to The Beauty Barn®. We will also check in with you 24 hours after your appointment to ensure everything is progressing as expected, and this is a great time to address any questions or concerns you might have.
